Self-directed eLearning (SDL), with email support of tutor. 

SDL is suitable for learners who are already experienced managers in adult care settings in England who already have personal experience of personally managing repeated successful CQC inspections that resulted in CQC ratings of "Outstanding" or "Good". 

Such students already have generic management and/or leadership qualifications and vocational leadership qualifications, and they will use the learning resources we provide on our learning platforms to update their knowledge and skills, before undertaking assessments within our Assessment Platform. 

The SDL is not suitable for learners who have never managed a care setting in England, or who are jumping from the role of Care Assistant or Senior Care Assistant to a management role to set up their own Domiciliary Care company as Directors. 

About the Qualification

The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care (RQF) is the Ofqual-recognised qualification that replaces the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (RQF), which expired on 31 December 2019. 

This Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care (RQF)  is the current Ofqual-accredited qualification for Registered Managers and is recognised by CQC and Skills For Care as the qualification for Managers of care and support services for adults that are regulated and inspected by the CQC in England.

This qualification, the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care (RQF), covers all the knowledge and skills requirements of managers in various care settings regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), whether health care or social care, according to the requirements of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.

On 31 December 2019, the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (RQF) expired to new registrations. The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care (RQF) is now the current recognised qualification for Registered Managers of all care settings, such as residential care homes, nursing homes, domiciliary care agencies, nursing care agencies, day care settings for adults, and job roles and similar care settings.

The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care (RQF) is nationally recognised and is based on the Health and Social Care National Occupational Standards (NOS) and the Skills for Care Management Induction Standards (MIS). The NOS, MIS, assessment principles and qualification structure are owned by the Sector Skills Council, Skills for Care.

The aim of the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care is to guide and assess the knowledge and skills relating to leadership and management within adult care. Learners undertaking this qualification will be working in a managerial role in a variety of adult care settings.

As learners engage with the units of this qualification, they will learn more about how to develop leadership and management skills. As a leader in adult care, the learner will become an important role model for others, inspiring staff and raising aspirations. Learners receive support with  the learner fully in charge of their own timetable.

We allow learners Flexible Duration. Learners can complete the qualification as fast as they want, however learners must be aware that all assessments must be completed to the required Level 5 standard.
