The Level 3 Adult Care diploma essentials course is for learners wanting to quickly gain knowledge for working in the role of a Lead Adult Care Worker, or Senior Care Assistant.

A lead adult care worker will make a positive difference to someone’s life when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional or intellectual challenges. They will be expected to exercise judgement and take appropriate action to support individuals to maintain their independence, dignity and control.
By providing leadership, guidance and direction at the frontline of care delivery, they will be instrumental in improving the health and wellbeing of those receiving care and support. Lead adult care workers will in some circumstances have delegated responsibility for the standard of care provided and may supervise the work of other care workers.
By exercising autonomy and accountability, they will lead and support others to comply with expected standards and behaviours.
Lead adult care workers may work in residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres or some clinical healthcare settings.
As well as covering lead adult care workers, this standard also covers Lead Personal Assistants who can work at this senior level but may only work directly for one individual who needs support and/or care services, usually within their own home.
This course gives learners the opportunity to:

● develop the fundamental technical skills and underpinning knowledge and

Learner's assumed pre-existing knowledge, understanding, and skills
Learners enrolling on this course are assumed to already possess pre-existing UK Level 2 Knowledge, Skills, and UK work experience on UK care principles, UK legislation and regulations, policies and procedures covering UK care provision.
Anyone enrolling and undertaking this course for Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care is assumed to already possess the required pre-existing knowledge, understanding and skills gained from all of the following:
- UK Care Certificate - undertaken within the last 12 months
- at least 6 months work-based experience as a Healthcare Assistant working in a real care job delivering care to different individuals in England, UK.
- successfully achieved the Level 2 Diploma in Care (RQF) in England, or the Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care in England.
- fully understands the UK National Occupational Standards (NOS) in England, UK, for different job roles performed at different recognised national occupational levels, and the Ofqual-recognised qualifications linked to those job roles.

Scope of this Level 3 Adult Care diploma essentials course
This course provides essentials of for Level 3 knowledge, skills, and behaviours for Lead Adult Care Workers, experienced Senior Healthcare Assistants, Lead Personal Assistants.
The Level 3 Adult Care diploma essentials course also provides initial training in Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care for those who may later progress to full enrolment to the recognised qualification, Highfield Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care (RQF).
This course is a Level 3 course for those who have already attained the pre-existing knowledge, understanding, skills, and competence as detailed in the previous lessons.
This Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care essentials course is not an induction course.
Those new to care in the UK who should be undertake the Care Certificate which they can enrol into via

This course is not a Level 2 course for new care assistants. Those intending to work as care assistants or care support workers in any UK care setting, can gain the required knowledge and skills via the 10 Level 2 course learning bundle plus 15 Care Certificate Standards
Health and Social Care Certificates
This Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care essentials course will not cover Level 1 and/or Level 2 basic concepts for new care assistants, which all learners at Level 3 must already know. This course will not be used to reproduce Level 1 or Level 2 coursework, which are delivered via other courses.
If a learner does not understand the concepts covered in this synopsis of the course, or if a learner's knowledge of basic concepts of care is so inadequate that they are asking basic Level 1 questions, then that learner will be asked undertake the required remedial Level 1 Care Certificate course, and any necessary Level 2 courses, before continuing with this Level 3 course.
